I met Dr. Yan and we spoke for a long while. I felt comfortable enough with her to ramble on about the mix of stress/anxiety/digestive problems that I was having. She listened, looked at my tongue, and said that acupuncture, along with proper diet, sleep, exercise, should be very effective.
As soon as I walked into the office, I felt like I had made a good choice. There's spa/relaxation music and nature sounds playing. The staff is very welcoming and made me feel very comfortable from the minute I walked in.
My mother referred me to Ivy Acupuncture as a last resort and I'm so glad I listened to her (mother knows best).
I've dealt with stress and anxiety for as long as I can remember as well as TMJ, neck pain, carpal tunnel, diabetes, lower back pain, and neuropathy. session 95% of the numbness and tingling in my feet was gone. After five sessions I'm feeling great. The back pain is much better (my weight still puts some stress on it), the "neuropathy" which was actually caused by my lower back (not diabetes) is almost nonexistent, and I've started losing weight by following her recommendations.
Some people have made fun of me when I've told them what I'm doing, but many others have asked for recommendations because they've seen the change in my demeanor and health.
I can't say it enough, I'm so glad that I listened to my mother and took the her advise to meet with Dr. Yan. It has been the best time and investment in my health.

"Dr. Yan was born, raised and educated in China. She learned to practice the traditional Chinese medicine she grew up with. This was one of my first reasons for choosing to be treated by her. The second was that her rates seemed fair (not cheap but definitely not inflated).slew of symptoms: headaches, high BP, acid reflux, pre-diabetes, psoriasis that destroyed my nails and was breaking out all over my body, chronic fatigue, back pain and chronic sinusitis. After 2 years, I have none of those problems. In conjunction with some chiropractic adjustment, Dr. Yan has not only fully restored my health, but has educated me in how to maintain it.
During the course of treatment, I have also once or twice come down with the flu or a cold, a stress headache, melancholy or high stress. What amazes me each time is that she can treat me and make the symptoms disappear. This last spring I was sick as a dog and over the phone 1,800 miles away, she prescribed me raw herbs that literally cured me in 2 days! If I am stuffed up, she can pinch me and make it go away immediately. Magic!
She has patiently taught me to see the very slow cause and effect between ingestion, elimination and my health. Each time she has to explain the same thing, she does it as if it's the first time, andeventually I have gotten it. You don't often find a doctor so ready to be your partner in treatment, to help you understand how your health works. But Dr. Yan does this with warmth and caring.
